Between Route 1 and the lakes
Brookton is an unorganized township immediately south of Danforth. U.S. Route 1 is one of its two improved roads and forms the principal north–south route through the community.
Forest City Road, in the southeastern corner, passes Brook Lake. Roughly half of the lake lies within Brookton. A picnic area near the road provides a hand-carry boat launch and access to the water.
Water, woods, and access
Most of Baskahegan Lake lies inside Brookton’s boundaries. Several dirt roads reach its coves and shoreline, reflecting the township’s predominantly wooded and lightly developed character.
Buildings along U.S. Route 1 have included homes, a general store, a post office, and two churches. Forest City Road branches from the highway and continues through the township’s southeastern landscape.
View toward Stetson Mountain
Wind turbines associated with the Stetson Wind Farm can be seen from Route 1. The turbines stand on Stetson Mountain in T8 R3 NBPP township, directly west of Brookton.
